Around the world the use of technology has grown through
cellular phones, transportation, and the use of the internet. By using these
valuable items, people around the global can easily exchange goods more quickly
and in a less complicated way. This process is called globalization, and globalization
means people worldwide coming together between countries and nations.
Corporations such as Apple, Nike, and Microsoft outsource
their companies. Outsourcing means to use an external resource to get help
outside of the organization. Most organizations use other countries to do labor
for lower wages; such as, China, India, and the Philippines. This is one of the
main reasons why these companies do not let workers from superior countries develop their
products, if so, they would have to raise pay scale, provide additional
benefits, and limit overtime work; alternatively, organizations outsource.
Virtual teams is a form of communication that isn't done in the same room. Instead of having group discussions face to face, virtual teams are
used through the use of technology.
These three trends change IT project management in a fast
and beneficial way. It changes globalization in a way for people to transport
goods and information quickly, bringing other countries and nations to work effectively
together. It benefits outsourcing to reach goals of corporation products to
meet deadlines, to provide the public with advanced technology and other
accessories. And it also helps people/teams to communicate easily for business through
the use technology.

ReplyDeleteYeah I think you captured the concepts pretty well. However I do think it's important to note some of the pros and cons to virtual teams. For example, it does reduce cost by not having office space and not requiring transportation and allows for flexible scheduling, but it also increases the risk of miscommunication. Also in terms of outsourcing I think it's also important to note that some people actually look down upon it. Companies like Walmart, Apple, etc. have all gotten slander because of it.

The three trends ( Globalization, Outsourcing and Virtual teams) do bring companies and countries to work together to meet deadlines and to ensure a successful outcome. All three of these trends are on the forefront of project management today combining and providing more expertise in well needed areas.
ReplyDeleteOutsourcing seems like the best approach when trying to manage expenses. If companies like Apple try to manufacture products within the origin of their business, their expenses would raise the alarm.
